Join us for our 3rd River District Scavenger Hunt on Thursday, June 9 from 5:30 – 8 p.m.! Meet us on Main Street Plaza by JTI Fountain RAIN-OR-SHINE. This FREE event will be a fun evening of games, music & ice cream for young & old! In the event of heavy rain or storms, the start-time may be delayed. Weather-related updates will be posted on Facebook (DowntownDanville) and Twitter (DowntownDanVa). Weather-permitting, the race will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. but you may arrive at any time before 6:45 to join the Hunt. Come to JTI Fountain on Main Street Plaza to receive a game sheet. Participating stores are listed on the game sheet. You must return to the Fountain to submit your game sheets and entry tickets by 7:15 p.m. Mayor Sherman Saunders will draw for winners at 7:30 p.m. You must be present to win!Great prizes up for grabs include $500 cash, a gift certificate to Golden Leaf Bistro, and tickets to Virginia International Raceway (VIR). Prize winners will be chosen by random drawings from entry tickets submitted. To earn entry tickets, visit participating businesses for a stamp on your game sheet. Visit 15 participating businesses and you will receive 1 prize entry ticket. To increase your chance to win, visit more participating businesses and/or purchase items there. For every $10 spent, you will receive an extra entry ticket. Also, if you visit the businesses that are farthest away from the fountain (as noted on the game sheet), you will receive an extra ticket! Again, winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. and you must be present to win!
Those who would rather hang out by the fountain and listen to music or play corn hole toss are welcome to do so! Just come out and spend the evening downtown. DJ Ben Wright will play music and ice cream will be served by American National Bank. We encourage you to take a casual stroll downtown and see what’s new including new stores, the restored HOME letters from the former Dan River Fabrics sign, and renovated buildings with new apartments and commercial spaces. River District Association staff and board members will be on-hand to answer questions! Just get downtown June 9th!
“home” letters of the former Dan River Fabrics sign have now been installed as public art on the building at 121 N. Union Street! Join the Danville Historical Society and the River District Association in a celebration of Danville’s history and progress on Friday, March 11 beginning at 5:30 p.m.. At the corner of Main and North Union Streets, there will be live music by DJ Ben Wright and refreshments. Everyone is welcome!
